Sweater season is officially upon us. *Cue the pumpkin spiced lattes, big blankets, and bonfires*
I decided to create a post styling three extremely affordable and staple sweaters that everyone should have in their wardrobe this season. You will notice two recurring themes with the outfits I have chosen. Firstly, I tend to never venture out with color in the colder season; therefore, the sweaters I photographed are all black. Secondly, I kept all the outfits quite easy by keeping most accessories the same especially my boots which are from Target (such a bargain). You can easily add a pair of funky boots to kick the outfits up one notch, but I wanted to keep these three outfits simple to fully showcase the sweaters. The links to the sweaters will also be provided.
I have seen sweaters with a twisted back all over Instagram and Pinterest. The one I have is from Rainbow; therefore, it was super affordable. The added back detail is a huge plus, but I also love the slouchy neckline. You can either wear this sweater off the shoulder, one-shouldered or a v-neck. I paired this sweater with a denim skirt which is perfect for those warmer fall days.
This next sweater has been my go-to lately on the cold mornings. What makes this plain black sweater unique are the flared sleeves. It adds an extra element and twist to such a classic piece. I have also been religiously wearing this denim jacket from Boohoo because it automatically gives off that "cool girl" vibe with its loose fit. I wanted to make this outfit a little bit more fun by layering a summer dress underneath. The darker floral print makes the dress the perfect transitional piece.
This last outfit is what I would consider my "throw on outfit". It is very simple; however, it still looks as though you put some effort into your outfit. The long batwing cardigan from Boohoo is such an essential for the fall. It is not too thick, but I still like to wrap myself up in it if I am cold during class. I styled the cardigan with a burnt orange top for a pop of color to help break up the outfit.
I am constantly challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to sweaters since I am always wearing the same ones. It is fun to layer and pair them with transitional pieces such as skirts or summer dresses instead of sticking to the traditional jeans and boots. Once my sweater collection grows and becomes more diverse, I will most likely post a similar blog post to this one.
